Many parts of the Western Himalayan region, most of northwest India, and parts of northeast India experienced heavy rainfall Monday morning, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Weather officials said heavy rains might cause slippery roads and traffic disruptions on the roads. They said plantations, horticulture, standing crops, and vulnerable structures may suffer partial damage, including kutcha houses and walls.
It cautioned people living in vulnerable structures of the risks and urged them to move out of such habitats. It also recommended people to stay indoors, close windows and doors and avoid traveling if possible. Moreover, the Department advised people not to take shelter under trees, lie on concrete surfaces, or lean against concrete walls.
