The Bureau of FIFA has suspended the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) due to third-party interference along with the Chadian Football Association (FTFA) due to government interference. The decision came after the group of football officials who were elected by the Supreme Court in 2018, but were not recognized by FIFA, took over the headquarters recently and seized control from the FIFA Normalization Committee headed by Haroon Malik.
As per the latest statement given by FIFA, the decision came after the ‘hostile takeover’ which led to serious violations of its statutes. The suspension on PFF will only be lifted once FIFA receives confirmation from the normalization committee of the Pakistan Football Federation that the PFF’s premises, accounts, administration and communication channels are again under its full control.
Pakistan was previously suspended for a similar violation in 2017. FIFA will lift the ban once the relevant government decisions have been repealed.
